We are the Champions

Having bleacher-bum for the last 2 months has paid off. Colin's basketball team just won 1st place in their tournament that took place this weekend. And to make it even better, Colin made the winning 2 points.

There were 54 seconds left in the game; score was 18 to 19 and we were down by one. Colin stole the basketball from the other team and drove it down the court to attempt a lay-up. He was fouled while shooting so was given two free-throw shots. By now, my heart was in my throat and I felt like I could throw up. The other Mom's around me patted me on the back and said "No pressure Mom". Oh boy. Colin shoots the first free-throw and that ball hung in the air for days and swoosh....he made the first one. We are now tied 19 to 19. I felt good, at least it meant the game was tied and we could go into overtime. The coaches call a time-out and later I heard one of his coaches told Colin "You gotta make the next basket (yeah....pressure)". Colin goes to the line, shoots and scores. Yee-haw, we are ahead by ONE!

The other team gets the rebound and drives it down, shoots but misses and the buzzer rings. The crowd, and this Mama, goes wild. I had tears in my eyes with lots of joy and feelings of pride flowing over. The last two times we played this team we lost. Guess we picked the best game to beat them at, the championship. :)

Those smiles say it all. Our first "First Place" trophy.

Colin and his favorite coach.

Holding on tight to the prize. He wouldn't even let me hold it to look at it. He worked too hard to give it up.

One proud little guy who just had the best day in his life.

Way to go CC, Mom's very proud of you!!!

Basketball....I love it....then I hate it

Over two months later.....we are still playing ball, HOWEVER, the end is near. We are in tournament time, games this weekend and then next weekend. I do love watching Colin and his buddies play. I love visiting with the other Mom's and Dad's. Makes me feel more part of a community. But after living basketball for 2 1/2 months straight, I'm ready for a break (you would think I was the one actually playing ball).

Oh yes....we have a few weeks off......and then baseball starts. Ugh

Playing in my Room

This weekend all I wanted to do was stay home. Colin had 5 days straight of basketball which allowed us to be home about 15 minutes each evening and then straight to bed after the ballgame was over. It felt good to stay home and play in my room (just like a little kid).

I've shown you my craft room before, but there are a few things I love. This little wire basket was purchased last summer at a flea market and it is probably my favorite. It is stuffed to the hill with so many wonderful things it just gets me excited to look at it. You must love paper to admire it's loveliness.

These wire baskets were purchased at Ikea a few years ago and hold all kinds of brads, buttons, pins, flowers and some cute pictures I love to look at. Two of them are Colin in his rolly-polly days. I love the middle one so much, I wish he was that small again so I could kiss his chubby neck. Then there is ole' Walt on a Disney Pin I had to buy during out last Disney Vacation.

More baskets holding buttons and eyelets and a cute picture of me wearing my Daddy's shoes and sucking on my binky.

Another favorite is a little dresser I found at the same flea market that is actually a music box, but it stores all kinds of scrapbook goodies. The picture on top is my first Christmas with my Sissy holding me.

Next to the dresser are a few vintage books bought with the intentions of tearing them up and using the pages. I know this may make book collectors sick, but these pages are awesome....stinky......but awesome. The most recent one with the Burgundy binder is actually a book written in French. A girl friend spotted it while we were at a flea market (junk sale) the other weekend. She let me buy it since she knows I love all things French. Already tore some pages out of it.

With all of this inspiration around me and a free weekend to myself, I decided to play and make something new for my Etsy shop. I need to make some smaller items because these scrapbooks take me three days to make, but they are so much fun. I used those old books pictured above and tore some pages out to embellish the album pages. My girlfriend and I both said today "Why can't we quit our jobs and play with paper every day???!!".

Here is the front cover of the album. MaMa and PaPa bear where it's "Home Sweet Home".

One page.....

And another page using some of the vintage sheets. There are 16 pages in all just waiting for someone to add their own photos to it. I just listed it on my Etsy shop; let's hope for the best.
Well the weekend is over and that's a bummer. Mom and Dad are in Michigan visiting my Sister for the first time. I'm jealous but so happy they made it (before the snow starts flying). It's a bit lonely knowing I'm the only one here in Illinois. But I know if I wanted to change that, it would only take me 4 hours to accomplish it!

Blogging Addiction

Last night I was talking to my Sister and she asked me if I looked at "So-and-so's" blog. I said "No, I haven't looked at blogs for a few days". She responded "What's wrong with you, you can't do such a thing!". I had to laugh.

My Sister got me addicted to blogging and from there it just snowballed. You know it's bad when your list of favorites is so long, they don't fit on your screen. Your son watches over your shoulder and says "You have THAT many favorites!?". Little does he know, those are the only ones I have saved. You know what I'm talking about, you click on a favorite blog and then you look at all of her favorite blogs, and then you go to that lady's favorite blogs and before you know it.......you forgot where you started from. Uh-hu, you know.

I have all types of blogs I look at; crafting, food, life in general, etc, etc, etc. Basically if a lady wants to write about it, chances are I'll read it. You can burn up hours sitting in front of the computer, so I do try to limit my time so I can actually accomplish something in an evening/weekend. But my favorite time to blog, early in the morning before Colin and the kitties get up. Just me, my PC and a cup of coffee. If I only have 15 minutes, then I hit my favorites and the others must wait for a weekend.

I added some new favorites to my side bar. These are the ones I go to time and time again. Many are crafting blogs and I just love the work these ladies produce. I'm so happy we have a bunch of women in this world that love to talk about their life and document it on-line. Just goes to show how we yearn to be with other women. Even if we may never get the chance to meet these wonderful people.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! What are you doing on this special day? So far Colin and I exchanged presents, went to church, had lunch with my parents and now it's time to stay home and play.

Colin surprised me this morning with a Valentine's Day present, this extra cute box of chocolates. We are "entertaining" the idea of getting a dog so it's very much on Colin's mind every second of the day. I love the box of chocolates with the little chocolate lab. And NO we won't get a lab....too big for our little home. I gave him a Lego Cherry Picker truck, but I forgot to get a picture of it.

Here are some of our Valentine cards. We have received more from family and friends, but here is the card Colin gave me, the one I gave him, and the card Tiger and Calleigh gave Colin. :)

I know, call me crazy, but I couldn't pass up this card. Click on it if you can't read it.

Colin spread some cheer to the furry fellers outside too and they were grateful. This little guy was enjoying the pretzel sticks. The cats were wishing they could enjoy him.

Can you feel the intense stare going on? The squirrel finally turned around so he didn't have to look at the two sets of beady eyes looking at him from the window. They were swishing their tails like two helicopter's.

I'm off to play and hopefully make some more items for the Etsy shop. I hope some creativity starts flowing, so far I'm not feeling it. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday/Valentine's Day!
Lots of Love!

Greetings from Sweden

Well I must say my Etsy shop is reaching out to people.......all the way to Sweden to be exact! I received a conversation from a lady regarding my shop and come to find out she was from Stockholm, Sweden. Here is the sweet note she left for me:

Dear WeeLittlePapers,

I found your shop during the weekend and I truly thinks that you make the most adorable cards. I scrapbook myself so I scraplifted one of your cards, please note - only for personal use - to send as a valentine card to my nieces.Would it be OK to blog about your shop and show my version of your card. Please note that I will refer to your shop and attach a link as well.In Sweden we have had cold weather today, we have a lot of snow but one notice that the days becomes longer each day.

I replied to her and said "SURE" you can scraplift whatever you want. So she made something and put a post on her blog about it.....in Swedish! :) I can't even read it but I love it! Here is her blog:

Having this little Etsy shop has been so exciting. I sold another item today, it is only the third item sold (one to my Sissy....counts, but not really) but it has made my heart swell with joy.

Tomorrow my girlfriend and I are heading to an indoor flea market. Can't wait to see what goodies we find. Colin is going to hang out with his favorite PaPa and build something. Oh I wish I could be a fly and hear the stories they tell. Good times will be had for both of us tomorrow.

Super Bowl Sunday (and I don't like football)

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! And for all of you ladies out there, Happy Super Bowl Sunday where the men don't do anything but watch football and feed their face! :)

I however, being Sweetly Single, do not have a man to feed, so I decided to feed my Dad! A while ago I received my favorite magazine, "Food Network", and noticed many different wings recipes so I thought it would be fun to give them a try. I showed the recipe to Dad, he agreed it looked good, so I set off to find the ingredients called for. I knew they were going to be spicy because it called for Chilpotle Peppers, but we cut back on the amounts so they weren't a blazing ferno.

The first step was to separate the wings into the two parts. This was a job for Dad. He tried a few different knives and after having the slippery little wings fall out of his hands, he decided to go for extra force.....a mallet from the garage. He really wanted to get his band saw out but he knew he would need to clean the blade first. You gotta love a man in the kitchen and how they think.

So here is Dad, killing the chicken, just in case it wasn't already dead.

The recipe is Bobby Flay's Hot Wings, you can find it here at Food Network's website. As you can tell from three of the ingredients, they were intended to be SPICY! Dad took a lick of the chilpotle peppers and quickly said reduce the amount called for. Dad loves hot stuff, but these suckers were really hot.

Dad also helped me out by frying up the chicken. It was fun to be in the kitchen cooking with him. I don't get to do that very often. Mom was nearby talking to us, but resting since her hip was bothering her. Colin would come and go whenever he felt the desire to be near family.

Another recipe I tried out was The Pioneer Woman's salsa and it was fabulous! I highly recommend it. I won't bore you with those pictures, but we did eat these with the salsa. :)

This is the only photo I have to evidence there was football going on today. And actually, it was some pre-game party deal, not even of the actual game. Oh well.

And finally, the meal......Yummy ribs my Mom made, veggies (only healthy item).....

Two kinds of chicken wings.....Bobby Flay's on the left and Colin's barbecue on the right......

Potato skins.......... (can you see Dad's individual wet rags he gave everyone for the messy food?)

And finally, this is the reason we all needed our own wet rags, lots o' barbecue and wing sauce to be consumed!

And that was the menu from our Super Bowl Party, wish you could have joined us. By the way, who was actually playing?

Good Morning

At 5:45am my internal clock said it's time to get up. The nice part, I get to stay in my jammies and stare at Mr. Tiger who is staring back at me.

I also get to slowly sip my coffee in the dark house, only lit by the night lights glowing throughout.

And as the morning has progressed Calleigh finds a spot to sit where she can get a bit of the sunlight starting to come in.

We got more snow here in Illinois last night. I hear the wind howling outside, my wind chimes are blowing and every bit of it is whispering "stay inside today". OK, you twisted my arm.

Mama's Computer is Back!

About 6 months ago my computer died. Come to find out the main power supply pooped out. My computer is not only old, it was basically free, so the idea of spending money on a new one made me want to cry. I work at a bank and every now and then they sell our old computers for $25.00 per PC with monitor. Quite the deal isn't it? A few years ago I bought 2, one for me and one for Colin. By now they are probably 5 years old which is about 100 years old in computer terms.

When my computer died I took it to Best Buy and they determined what was wrong and said there was a chance I wouldn't be able to get a new power supply because of it's age. I took it back home with me pouting the whole way home and from there....it sat. Missing my blogs so much, I stole my son's computer and told him we had to share. Yeah I know, nice Mom.

For the last 6 months we have been sharing and doing a fine job at it I must say. But since it's in my craft room on a little table there have been many evenings where I got kicked out so Colin could play some games. The idea of buying a new one was sounding more appealing all the time. That was until I found out one of our IT guys at work does computer work on the side. I brought it to work, he took it home and $40.00 later, HE FIXED IT! That included his time and parts. I was beyond ecstatic, I gave him $60.00 because he made me so happy.

Tonight, I have my computer back and Colin has his. We are both in our separate rooms playing on them. It's so nice. He has one kitty on his desk and I have the other. I do however hear "I, Want to Rock and Roll all Night" coming from his room and he keeps talking to his computer. But in the end, he has his and I have mine. How sweet it is.

Love is in the Air

I finally sprinkled a little bit of Valentine around our home. I've discovered you can find some very cute vintage Valentine Day's card on-line ready to download so I've had a hay-day with that. See the Queen of Hearts...she has lots of glitter on her dress but it's hard to see in my photo.

Another vintage Valentine.

My Eiffel tower must be decorated as the all-time symbol of LOVE!

A small antique dresser always gets dressed up for every holiday. The cats enjoy sitting on the dresser gazing at their beauty in the mirrors (and usually proceed to knock off whatever is sitting on the dresser). In fact, you can see Tiger's legs in the reflection of the mirror because he was laying on the back of the chair thinking to himself...."I'm gonna knock that stuff off of there when she goes to work". Bad boy.

A little blurry, but this is the bad boy.

Things have been so busy around home, I never seem to have time to blog. We are still crazy busy with Basketball since there are 3-4 games a week between Monday-Saturday and usually practice tucked in a couple other days. I'm at work and school more than home these days. My fanny has major bleacher-bum too.

One good thing to report is I made my first sale on Etsy (that didn't involve a family member...thank you Sissy for order #1). She left me a feedback stating she loved my product and gave me a whole bunch of A +++++++++! Made my heart swell. I'm going to like this Etsy shop a whole lot. I may never get caught up on my scrapbooking now, but I guess there is always retirement someday. :)
