Enjoying my vacation time and sunshine. Yesterday was a bit chilly but the sun was out so I had to open the screen door for the kitty cats. Tiger was the first to run up to see and smell what was going on outside. He didn't even try to escape like he normally does. He was just taking it all in.

He did look up at me with those squinty little eyes begging to go outside. NO!

My Sissy is home from MI and since we had a little time together she wanted to visit our Antique store. We came across an old yearbook and my sister noticed it was the year our Dad graduated from High School. We had Shelby call PaPa to see if he had his Senior yearbook and even though he did, I still bought it. Later that evening it led to a bunch of reminiscing by Mom and Dad. Shann and I loved to hear the stories.

Here is Dad's Senior picture. Isn't he handsome!

Here he is in the FFA (yellow arrow).

It's fun talking to your parents about their younger days. You find out that they experienced the exact same things as we did thirty years later. However they got to wear cute bobby socks, Letterman sweaters and poodle skirts. We just wore big hair.
Starting vacation day #2!

Vacation Item #6.........check!

I decided to get the least amount of fun item off my vacation list......clean the house. I told my Sister, I walked out of my bedroom this morning, took a gander at every room in the house and said "Ugh, this place is a pit". Not only did it need cleaned, it need picked up. I don't live very messy, but my house was messy for me! Since Basketball has been over I have definitely been enjoying our evenings home without exerting much effort and my home showed it.

First, I tacked my favorite room in the house, my scrapbook room. It needed re-arranged and homes found for new items. It looks lovely I must say. Then I went to work on every thing else. Having two cats in the house creates LOTS of cat fur. I officially have enough fur in the vacuum for cat #3.

It was hard work but I really do love to do manual labor when I've been mentally exhausted at work. I sit at a desk and except for lifting mortgage files every now and then, I don't exert much manual labor in my job. So it is refreshing to come home and work...sweat a little bit.

My home is spit spot, a couple windows are open even though its about 40 degrees outside, but the sun is shining too so it warms you up. There is a cat in both open window, they too are loving it (and my furnace is running but I don't care). Oh yes and one more thing, about my fear in my last post........yes my Dad showed up without me having a bra on. Never fails. It was worth it, he asked me out for dinner with him and Mom. Can't wait to spend the evening with them.

See you!

This may be Colin and I this week; me on the couch, Colin sitting next to me, toy truck, but that stranger on the end of the couch will need to go. :) Today at 6:00pm I started vacation from work. I must say it is the best feeling walking out of work knowing you won't be back for 9 whole days. To even top things off, I met up with a bunch of girlfriends and their spouses for dinner after work and a TON of laughter was had by all.
Colin is in school Monday - Thursday so I will be home doing my own thing. Then Friday morning we head to Michigan with my Mom and Dad to celebrate Easter with my Sissy and family. Can't wait!
Here are a few things on my agenda for the week:
1) Lunch with girlfriends
2) Lunch with Sissy (she is coming home Sunday, before we go see her!)
3) Lunch with Colin at school - a whole lot of lunch is going on this week
4) Trip to Amish country
5) Easter Bunny shopping
6) Cleaning house (can't be all fun and games)
7) Staying home for sure on Thursday when it's supposed to be 70 degrees and SUNNY! Time to fling open those windows!
That's it so far. Who knows where I will end up and how long I will stay in my jammies some days. All I have to fear is Dad showing up and me with no bra. Oh well.

Weekend with my Sissy and Family

It's been almost 2 whole months since I've seen my Sister and family and I was really craving a visit. We finally made it to Michigan Friday night for some much needed family time. We didn't have a whole lot of time with them since we had to come back Sunday, but I'll take any time, even the short visits.

My Sissy has been asking me for a looooong time to make this banner she saw on another blog. I saved it but it just looked too challenging, but I finally studied it enough and decided to go for it. It's my own version, she likes it so that's all that matters. I hung it in her kitchen windows and with the sun shinning it, it did feel like "Spring".

We had lots of fun in MI, did a little bit of shopping while Uncle Mark was the KING and took the kids to Chuckie Cheese. Gave us girls a little time alone to visit (and hit an Antique shop). Then we all met up at the movie theatre to watch "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". It was a great movie, loved by all.

Sunday before we left for church I snapped a few pictures outdoors. She had a very cute Spring decoration on her porch stoop.

It went nicely with this stuff in the grass....snow. It is Michigan afterall.

While I was outside Sophie looked like she was watching me, but those eyes couldn't see me. Poor little thing is practically blind but she sure looked darn cute starring out the front door.

After church and lunch it was time to head home. Colin and I talked about being good and heading home with no stops (like we normally do), but we couldn't do it. I really think we are just so sad to leave MI, we must make stops on the way home to stall. We stopped in St. Joseph again. The last time we were there, the lake looked like this......click here. Quite the improvement wouldn't you say?

This water sure does draw you in. It may have been 40 degrees but I could have plopped a blanket down and had a picnic in the wet sand. The water is so captivating. It was a bit dark and brown, I guess the current or maybe all the ice and snow that had melted. Not sure but I still loved it (and so did Colin).

And guess who else came back to the beach....these guys.

The reason they are so thick is because Colin decided to feed them Chex Mix. They flew in by the thousands. We had to get out of there in fear of bombs being dropped on our heads.

After saying good-bye one more time to MI, we said we would see you again very soon. In less than 2 weeks we go back with Mom and Dad for Easter. I can't wait to be with everyone again. Christmas was the last time our whole family was together. It's time.

Merry Christmas to ME!

Today I received many presents....some given....some purchased.

1) I had to take my car in for repair work. I dread repair work. I have a 2004 Rav4 that I love and it has been such a great car so honestly, any repairs would be worth it since I have only paid for normal wear and tear jobbies on this thing. About 3 weeks ago it started making a rattle and each day, the rattle got louder. And finally it was so loud, it was embarrassing. Colin would run from the car when I dropped him off at school. Oops.

So I finally decided it was time to get it to the shop and prepare for the damages. I called my Sissy today on my way to work, told her I had been praying that the expense wouldn't be too large, but I knew I had to do it. I had prepared myself to spend $500 and I would be grateful if it wasn't more. I was certain my exhaust was bad since it is 126,000 miles old.

I dropped the car off, went to work and waited for the phone call. About 3 hours later the shop called me. The nice man explained they changed my oil, rotated my tires, checked my squeaky brakes I reported and yes they found something with my exhaust. Here it comes......It was some plate that "normally could be welded back up but yours was way too rusted out". Yup....here it comes......."It will cost $15.00 to fix it". WHAT?! I asked the man "Did you say $15.00 and that's it?". "Yes, your total bill for all work done is $67.00." I about fell out of my desk chair. SWEET MOTHER OF PEARL, the Lord was with me today! I was pretty much dancing and clicking my heels the rest of the day singing "$67.00 dollars, $67.00 dollars". Hee-hee

2) My second present(s) was sitting on my front porch when I got home. I love to see boxes on my front porch, it always means something good. Just like my Sissy noted on her blog, it's great to get mail (especially the big boxed kind).

I recently treated myself to some new items from my Etsy stash and the goods were delivered. My first package came from Emma's Paperie. This past weekend it was their 2nd Birthday so they were having a party, giving discounts and free presents if you placed an order. I love the items they carry so I decided to finally buy something from their shop.

Tonight I received the package in the mail (super fast delivery) and look how cute the package was bundled up!! They wrapped their own presents and even sent a piece of candy.

I ordered items from the new Cosmo Cricket "Garden Variety" line. It is so stinkin cute, I can't wait to use it, but I have no idea on what (but I'm sure my Sister will have some suggestions....like her :) !!)

Look at the blue cow and the chick with the bonnet. Oh how sweet.

I will cut this sheet up and use each of those little tags. I just love the touches of vintage Cosmo Cricket uses in their lines. And that pink little piggy too.

I will cut up this page too and use each of those strips as borders. The middle one says "Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden." Oh so true, makes me want to go dig in the dirt.

Look how cute those chubby tomatoes are, the little peas in the pods and the ear of corn! Can you tell I'm excited? It doesn't take much these days. (Remember I'm still on my $67.00 high)

Here are the cute little free items Emma's Paperie sent.....blank tags, Prima flowers and Rhinestone butterflies. Gotta love free stuff!

My next box was from Stop and Scrap, another favorite store. This line from Cosmo Cricket will be near and dear to my Sissy and I will for sure make her something, just don't know what yet. :) It's called Material Girl and it's all about sewing, just like her.

I love the chipboard pieces....I've always loved chipboard. Look at the cute sewing machine in the bottom right corner. :) Oh lovely.

So, that's my Merry Christmas to ME day. It's been full of blessings. And even better, the sun was shinning and still no signs of Winter, only SPRING! And a $67.00 day of Spring.

How are you today?

Spring has Sprung!

It's official, Spring is here. I got my Easter decorations out, that always means it's officially here. It cannot snow ANY LONGER! Mother Nature, do you hear me?! I mean business too.

This morning before heading to work the sun was shinning, birds were chirping and it just felt so nice. I went around our home and snapped a few pictures of our decorations.

Another reason Winter needs to be gone......so I can stop feeding these plump fellars. They pretty much ate all of the bird food this winter. I guess they are God's creatures too and deserve to have full bellies during the cold winter nights too. They have also provided much entertainment for my two kitties that love to watch them from the bay window. I bet they wouldn't be eating my bird food if I let my ferocious Tiger outside! Well, he is kind of wimpy so it may not make a difference.

So, what kind of Easter decorations do you have?

The Puney's

The flu bug hit our house this weekend and it took one prisoner.....Colin. And it was baaaaaaad.

This will basically sum it up:

1) He didn't make it to the bathroom (why exactly don't kids make it on time??)
2) I used two rolls of paper towels and a ton of napkins
3) I threw away a bath towel
4) I used a container of bleach wipes
5) I held my nose with a bleach wipe and sucked in Clorox bleach
6) Colin and I both pulled an all-nighter with no sleep because he was so ill
7) I've done close to 50 loads of laundry in the past 48 hours
8) I've lost weight too because of major sympathy pains going on (or at least they better be sympathy pains and not the bug taking over me)
9) He will never eat salsa again....and I'm totally against it right now as well.

But here he is today with a little more color in him. He has been up playing Legos the last few hours so that is always a good sign. Tiger is confused since we are home and awake when he is usually awake and sleeping when he is usually sleeping (during the day).

I just pray and pray I don't get this nasty bug. It is yucky.

Etsy and Basketball.....again

Listed a few more Easter items to my shop. I must say, Easter is more fun than Valentine's Day. I think it's because I'm soooooo looking forward to Spring I can't stand it. I woke up today and the sun was just beaming through the curtains. It sure puts you in a good mood. Colin woke up and asked if he could go ride his bike. Not sure it's quite that warm.
Instead, we have more basketball today. We are in the final tournament, we have 3 games today. I know my little buddy will be extra tired tonight. It will be a good time to stay home and watch a movie.

I hope the sun is shinning wherever you are. I'll send you some sun if it isn't.

Mama Mia'

Tonight....we have pizza!

Colin wanted homemade pizza for dinner so I pulled out this nifty little recipe book I had that came inside my favorite magazine, "Food Network". I love experiementing with pizza dough but I still haven't found one I "love". I did like the taste of this one, but the dough was too thick. I don't believe it was the dough's fault, I stretched it instead of rolling it so it didn't have a chance to get thin. Regardless, it was yummy.

Pizza Dough Recipe

Whisk 3 3/4 cups flour and 1 1/2 tsp salt. Make a well and add 1 1/3 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 packet yeast. When foamy, mix in 3 tablespoons olive oil; knead until smooth, 5 minutes. Brush with olive oil, cover in a bowl and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour 30 minutes. Divide into two 1-pound balls.

I used my mixer with the dough hook. Worked perfectly.

And here she rests.......

Our ingredients of choice, however I did change them a bit. I opted against the olives and sun dried tomatoes. I instead added fresh tomatoes with the artichokes, onion and pepperoni. Ummm.....artichokes.

Before she goes into the oven...........

After she came out of the oven and before she was devoured. Well, I was the only one eating this pizza pie, so there is tons left. I will be taking it in my lunch this week. Since the dough makes 2 pounds I made another pizza for Colin with cheese and pepperoni. He too will be eating left overs.

Yummy Italian dinner, you can never go wrong with pizza.
