My Grandma is gone. She passed away very early this morning. I'm so happy for her to be in Heaven with our Father and all of her family. I bet if you can fish in Heaven, she is already on her way.

My Grandma

My Grandma is not doing well. She is ready to go home to be with the Lord. I believe He is calling her home and before long she will leave this temporary place, and rest with Him in His mighty kingdom.

Opossum....Romeo's Treat

We learned last night Romeo is a mighty hunter. He nabbed one of these in our back yard. This is how the story went......

I was on the phone with my Sissy and went to let Romeo back into the house from his last potty break of the evening. We do not have a light in our back yard, so it's hard to see him outside, but I knew he was by the back door. I opened the door, called him inside, but he wouldn't come. He was circling something on the patio. I could slightly make out an image of something and had a feeling it was bad.

I ran into Colin's room (he was in bed for the night, but not asleep) to grab a flash light. I went to the steps, shined the light, and say this ugly varmint playing dead with Romeo standing over it. It was breathing, I could see it's stomach move. Romeo wouldn't leave it, but he wasn't trying to pick it up either. I finally got him to come inside and all I could envision was him grabbing the opossum real quick and running into the house. Luckily, he didn't.
Colin is standing out on the top step with me by now and the opossum starts moving. I start screaming into my Sister's ear on the phone, push my kid back into the house and slam (if that is possible) the sliding glass door behind me. After a bit we peeked back outside and saw he moved behind my herb potted plants on the patio. Oh yuck.
So I did what every single female does, I called my Dad. He laughed and told me he would come over with his gun. Colin was SO excited when he heard about the gun, he was looking forward to watching it get killed. Not sure why, I chalk it up to the "man" thing. I started feeling remorse.
About 30 minutes later Dad showed up with his pistol, fish filleting knife and a box. Not sure what he was planning on doing with the knife, but maybe it was his back-up. Luckily, when we all went outside to find the beast, he was gone. I actually said a prayer he would scurry away so that we didn't have splattered blood to clean up. Luckily my prayer's were answered. Colin was not so happy.
The three of us and one anxious dog walked around the entire yard looking for the opossum and all we found was a spider. Romeo was probably upset we made him give up his treat, but that thing was ugly. I'm a bit nervous about the potty break tonight. I guess I better be thankful it wasn't a skunk!

We had a beautiful sunset tonight. We drove to the country to catch it in full view.

Mr. Toad

Today while tending to the garden I discovered a friend. I was reaching into a bundle of weeds/tomato plants to pick a tomato and all of a sudden the grass started moving. I envisioned a snake, but instead Mr. Toad popped out. I hollered for Colin and he came running to my rescue. Although instead of protecting me, he chased me around our yard with the toad.

Colin picked up the ugly feller and it didn't bother him a bit.

A few seconds after this picture was taken the toad peed on Colin. It was quite funny and that's what he gets for terrorizing his Mother.

Once he was placed back on the ground he jumped back to the garden to his safety. However, he started getting too close to the big furry feller and he would have lost his life, I'm quite sure of that. But Colin kept him away from Romeo, so he was safe in the end.

Etsy Shop Full Again

I finally got my Etsy shop stocked up again. I've got a little bit of everything:

  • Everyday
  • Fall
  • Halloween
  • Scrapbook Albums

I've been busy in my craft room all weekend with Christmas items. I keep all of my Christmas things in a few little totes so I haven't seen it since last year. I was so excited when I got it all out and saw the colors. It was extra sweet eye candy!
Hope you are having a greet weekend!

More Beach Pictures

I had to share more beach pictures. I asked my Sissy if we could go to the beach around dusk this time so I could get some pictures. I love the way the sun was reflecting off of the lake. It made it sparkle. I edited these pictures with a Sepia tone because it is my favorite. You can click on a picture to make it larger if you want to see more of it.

Shelby looking and thinking something.

Colin searching the beach for anything cool.

This picture is un-edited. This blue is what my camera picked up. I love the deep blue.

Colin skipping rocks.

And just the beauty of it all, plain and simple.

Long Weekend in MI

Friday afternoon Colin and I headed North to Michigan again. I try to make use of all long weekends to spend with my Sister since we don't get much time together any longer. We made it to their home at supper time so we ordered pizza and stayed in for the evening. We stayed up late, but enjoyed our time together.

Saturday morning we were a bit lazy before we decided to head out and play. We did all kinds of things; Farmer's Market, Shopping, Discovering other towns, and some go-cart riding.

Sophie enjoyed Colin's lap in the morning. She is totally a lap dog. Simon on the other hand knew the big, brown furry dog called Romeo was here so he was hiding out. He became much more courageous this visit then any of the others because he made his presence be known on many occasions. But he was still sly as a fox, as seen here.

After our morning errands we headed to Paw-Paw to ride some go-carts. The kids loved it!

Cute face Tee-Tee!

Colin was in love with these cars. Something about boys and speed.

Shelby just looked pretty driving her car.

After all of our fun was had we went back home to take care of the puppy dogs. They didn't get enough rest while we were gone so they both took naps while Shann and I looked at magazines. I know, it was boring to them.

Later that evening Shelby's "friend" (stick boy in front of that) came over to visit. Colin and Taylor loved having him there because the 4 of them played some hide-and-seek game in the neighborhood. I looked out Shann's kitchen window and saw these two rolling in the grass hiding from the girls. They were taking it very serious while I saw the two girls just strolling around like they could care less about "seeking". Colin loved playing with the bigger guy.

Later that night when everyone was in bed, Simon appeared again down stairs. He once again tried to hide himself so Romeo would not find him. Earlier in the evening Shann introduced the two of them and let's just say that Simon took Romeo down and I'm sure his pride was hurt a bit. He got slapped in the face a few times. Luckily, no claws.

Sunday morning Sophie enjoyed looking outside. She can't see anything, but she sure looks like she is enjoying it.

Romeo got a new toy while we were there. Since he has destroyed all of his other stuffed animals, we got him this funny looking guy. Like the teeth on both of them?

Since the weather was warmer on Sunday, we headed to Saugatuck for some shopping and the beach. The water was freezing cold but it was still lots of fun to play on the beach. I'm sure it will be our last visit before the snow starts flying.

And so another visit in Michigan came to end.

Pumpkin Shortage??

A girlfriend told me this past weekend about the pumpkin shortage in the US. It started last year and depending on how the crops fair this year, we could be plum out of pumpkins! That is devastating! Thanksgiving is only 3 months away and we may not have this???

Which means we can't make these?????

Read an article about it here. I need to check out the grocery stores and get a few cans if I see any available. Otherwise, it will be sweet potato pie! Hog-wash!
