Happy New Year's Eve....2012!

Happy New Year's Eve!!

Well we are about ready to wrap up another year.  It has been a very good year in our home, lots of fun memories and many, many blessings.  I decided to make a collage of pictures from our past year to share.  A bit of something from every month.

Colin and I will be staying home tonight where it's quiet and safe. We usually make some fun snacks and watch the ball drop in New York.  His birthday is Monday so we have a party to get ready for too.  Hope to just have a nice relaxing 3 day weekend.  Hope you enjoy ringing in the New Year and even better ...... Have a Blessed 2012!!

Did everyone have a Merry Christmas?!  We did in our family.  Just wanted to post a few pictures that I actually used in my December Daily album before the new year is upon us.  This weekend I hope to take some pictures of my FINISHED December Daily.  :)  So happy I completed it this year.

Did you get to see Arthur Christmas?  It was a very cute movie.  Colin and I saw it on December 23rd.  The theatre was packed!  Perfect for the holiday season.

Christmas Eve, we filled each other's stockings.  Colin has been filling my stocking for a few years now and he loves being a part of it.  You can probably tell which stocking belongs to each of us.

Christmas Day

In the morning we got up and opened out stockings and after that we headed to Mom and Dad's to meet up with my Sissy and all of her family.  Lots of fun things were given as gifts.

That's it for now.  Must head to work one last time this year.  Hope you are enjoy the holiday season still!

Merry Christmas

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
Luke 2: 9-14

May you have a Merry Christmas!

Can one ever have too much Peppermint?

I believe the answer to that question is no. There is something about Christmas and Peppermint and I always look forward to the holidays so I can consume large quantities of it. I am not a fan of just eating a piece Peppermint candy, but if you add little bits of candy to other dishes.....well that is just perfect!  Here are some of my favorite Peppermint things:

Peppermint Coffee-mate creamer in my "JOY" mug.  I don't do this every morning, but yesterday I was felling extra festive so I added some Reddi-Whip and a Candy Cane Sweet Stripes Peppermint Stick. (Walmart $1.00/box).  YUMMY!!!!

Here are a few other lovely ideas I have pinned on my Pinterest board.  Colin and I will be making some of these  tomorrow.  Just gotta figure out which ones because they all look tasty.

Four Days Until Christmas

Skippy is still flying home to the North Pole each night to report back to Santa.  But instead of riding a reindeer last night he rode a small wooden horse.  This was my Dad's toy as a very little boy.  Be careful Skippy!!!

Giddy Up Skippy!

Movie night is in full swing at our home now that I'm home.  I pulled out our best Christmas movies and have them all stacked so we can watch a new one every chance we get.  We still have a bunch to watch!

The Lego Advent Calendar has been a hit this December.  Colin loves to open up a new door each morning.  It has many little pieces he will play with long after Christmas is over.

Romeo is always watching Colin and what is revealed.  Actually he hears a little bag crinkle and thinks its food so that is probably the real reason he is always near.

Yesterday the Advent Calendar had the little orange snowmobile.  This morning he built the sled that attaches to the snowmobile.  Some clever minds at that Ole' Lego Factory!

It's 10:00am, Colin just got done with Basketball practice and we are heading out to run some errands.  Fixing dinner tonight for a girlfriend and her family that just had surgery so we must get back home in time to do some cooking.  But it works out great because I'll make extra for Colin and I.  Enjoy your 21st day of Christmas!!

5 Day's Until Christmas

So am I the only one out there that isn't ready?  Feels like I'm farther behind than before, but that's OK, it won't get me down.  Most of the presents are wrapped, my little buddy helped me last Saturday.  It's becoming a tradition for us to wrap together.  We end up with a mess on the family room floor but that's part of the fun.  Tiger really enjoyed playing in the mess.

He is such a helper, so grateful God gave him to me.  Not just to help me with things, just to share the time with him.  As he is getting older he wants to be responsible for the "man" things of the home so I definitely let him.  :)  He loves to change light bulbs, tighten a loose screw, fix anything that is broken.  Just give him a job and he is on it.  Praying he makes a good husband some day.

This year while we wrapped we watched our favorite movie "The Polar Express".  I took Colin to see this movie when it came out in the movie theaters.  He was 4 years old and we took Mom with us to the theater.

Colin was in awe and loved the movie.  Mom and I just enjoyed watching him more than the movie. Afterwards I took us to Hallmark and left the two of them in the car.  That year they sold Santa's Reindeer's bell, the same bell in the movie, as a Christmas Tree ornament.  The ornament came in a candy cane stripped box and the bell was nestled inside red velvet.  When I got back to the car I handed Colin the box while he was sitting in his car seat.  He was so excited and anxious to see what was inside that pretty little box.  When he opened it he immediately knew it was a Reindeer bell.  He took it out and started to shake it to see if he could hear the bell ring.  He did.  He kept saying "Nana, can you heeeeear it?"  (gotta draw out "hear" like he did in his sweet little voice)  Mom kept saying "Yes Colin, I believe in Santa, I can hear it!".  It was a great memory, hope to never forget it.

Well I must get busy with only 5 days left.  I officially started vacation last night from work so I can enjoy the next few days.  Today is Colin's last day of school before break.  While he is at school Mom and I are going Christmas shopping.  Got a few last presents to get and then I will be done!  Can't wait.  Hope you have a great day!

An Early Christmas Present for Dog-Dog

Somebody got an early Christmas present tonight.  But the Mama made him get his picture taken so he patiently waited to chew until I left the room with my camera.

" she gone yet?"

"Man, this candy cane bone smells so good. When is she going to leave!"

"Good grief this is boring."

"Woman.....please go away so I can enjoy my treat."

"Colin, help me."

"Tiger you jump on her and Calleigh can you steal the camera?  Please someone help me!"

Skippy has been having all kinds of fun at our home this December.  Remember who Skippy is, our Elf on the Shelf?  Each morning Colin likes to see what Skippy is up to, sometimes it's merry....sometimes it mischief.

Skippy drug out our Christmas books and was eating a mini-mug full of cocoa-pebbles cereal one morning.

Another day he and GI Joe were caught riding the Gator.  Not sure what happened to GI Joe's shirt, must have gotten lost in the 4-wheelin'.  They also snagged little Santa bear and chocolate covered pretzels for the ride in the back.

This morning we had our first dusting of snow.  Skippy was found sitting on Santa's hat with a rolled up letter addressed to Colin watching the snow fall.

This morning Skippy got into mischief.  We found him on the kitchen counter, inside the straw dispenser with straws all over the place.  Maybe Skippy should be on Santa's naughty list.

Who me?

Christmas in Chicago

A quick post with a few pictures from our visit to Chicago last weekend.  This week has been so crazy busy, I can't wait for vacation time next week so I can finally slow down and really enjoy this beautiful season.

Christmas tree at Macy's Walnut Room.  It was beautiful!!

Hot Cocoa at Ghirardelli's.  Man they know how to make some awesome Hot Cocoa!  :)

Colin's love of Stitch at the Disney store.

Short and sweet.  Try to be better next week with some posts and the December Daily.  Some how I am keeping up with it.  Merry Christmas!!!

Kitties at Christmas

I purchased a new camera lens for myself and it's definitely been a learning curve.  Colin got tired of being my model, the dog wouldn't even sit to be my model so I got the next best lazy thing(s):

Tiger and Calleigh

Tiger thinks he is hiding.......

Probably my favorite.  She is looking at her chubby brother that jumped on the chair to survey the situation.  I'm laying on the floor next to Calleigh and I'm sure it looked odd.  :)

There really is nothing like kitties at Christmas.  I do believe they feel the joy in the air and want to be a part of it.  Romeo......he just wants some raw-hide.

Hodge Podge of Holiday

Here is a bunch of Hodge Podge Holiday.

Just what everyone needs for Christmas....a 5 pound Hershey bar!  Something tells me though, if this was in my house, sooner or later it would get consumed.

Colin's position for decorating the Christmas tree. Mini little chair.

Romeo after his walk last night hanging out with Ho-Ho.

Me being silly taking my own picture.  I haven't mentioned this yet but I hurt my back over 2 weeks ago and as a result it flared up my Sciatic Nerve.  It has been one of the worst things I've experienced next to child birth without meds.  It has really slowed me down but also forced me to accept what is important and even more with the beginning of Christmas.  This year, I laid on the couch while Colin decorated the tree.  And you know what, it was just as perfect as all of our previous years.  Colin made us both wear Santa hats during our trimming of the tree.

Last night was the first time I felt like going out so we did a bit of Christmas shopping.  Our first stop was Target and Colin wanted to go down every toy isle (except the pink isle).  We played with just about every toy, even the Little Fisher Price stuff.  I personally wanted to take this guy home with me.

After Colin ruled out every toy, he headed to his isle.....the PS3 isle.  I just told my sissy, I think this will be our first Christmas since the last 12 years where I will not buy one toy.  Whaaaaa!  First it was school dances with girls and now it's no toys for Christmas.  Boo-hoo.

I am really enjoying Christmas time right now.  I'm trying very hard to keep my focus on Christ, not let the stress worry me or the shopping and just be happy.  It's the little things like kitties snuggled under the Christmas tree, the smell of pine in our home, Christmas music playing all the time and knowing that the day we celebrate Christ's Birth is coming.
