Doggy Paddle

While visiting Aunt Shann, we discovered something about Romeo.........he likes to swim.

The 3 kiddo's were playing down at a pond in Aunt Shann's subdivision so Shann and I took Romeo for a walk to go find them.  The kids didn't see us walk up so we hid behind a big evergreen next to the pond.  Before I knew what was going on Romeo took off running and ran into the pond.

The kids spotted him and came running to us.  Romeo got in farther and actually started dog paddling!  It was hilarious.  Colin and I always wondered if Romeo would swim if given the chance.
Well now we know.

Bird Killer

I didn't mean to do it.  The darn thing was standing on the highway and didn't move fast enough.  This poor thing lost its life tonight and his fate was my Rav4.

And to make matters worst his foot got stuck in my grill and hung onto my car the whole way home from work.  It's a 30 minute commute!  And when I hit 55mph, he was flapping up in the wind and I could see him over the hood of my car.  Flapping!  His poor little head wobbling.  I just kept praying, Lord....if he isn't dead please take him now.  I can't stand this.

So I did what every single Mom does, I drove straight to my Dad's house went inside and said "Take care of it for me!".  He said "What will you do when I'm dead and gone?"  I said "I don't know, but that ain't today!".  So, he put on some gloves and yanked pulled him off my grill.  In fact, he did it ever so gently his leg came off.  I couldn't stand to watch it any longer so I closed the door.

Sorry birdie.

Gardening....full speed ahead!

So far the garden is lookin' good!  But it usually does until about 1 month into it, but I still have high hopes that THIS YEAR it will be better.  I sound like a Cubs fan.....it runs in our family (thanks Dad).  Any-who, Colin and I hoed the garden tonight, sprayed some Organic food on it and now it's getting watered while the sun is down.  Per Dad, that is the best time to water.

In this years garden we have 18 different tomato plans (I think they make a pill for people that plant 18 tomato plants), 6 bell pepper plants, some zucchini, squash and cucumbers.  But the most important piece per Colin.......5 rows of carrots.  And after looking closely tonight, the little guys are peeking through the soil.  Funny how their tops already look like carrot tops even if they are only 1/8" inch above ground.  Colin is tending to his 5 rows with extra love.  Lord please send us some carrots, he is mending to them ever so dearly and he would be forever grateful.

I would love to show you some pictures but my camera disk has close to 4,000 pictures on it and my computer is having a hard time loading them.  I think they make a pill for someone that keeps 4,000 pictures on her camera too.  I better go take my pill.

Been Etsy Busy

Working on stocking my Etsy shop again.  Some items I made today while it was raining and ruining our Sunday plans (boo-hiss).  Some other items I've had on hand and decided to sell.  Check out my shop by clicking on the button to the right ---------------------------------------------------------->

Does this little tag look familiar to anything on my blog???  While editing photos for Etsy it inspired me to use those cute pictures.  I love it when pies smile at me.  Don't you?

Patio is open for the season

I have been working many-a-weekends getting our patio ready for summer and it's officially open.  The space is clean, weeds pulled, flowers planted, herbs are growing and way far yonder the garden is ready as well.

Colin and I have been spending most evenings outdoors playing with dog-dog until the mosquitoes come out.  It's so nice.  I keep thinking back to this winter and starring at my patio furniture from inside wishing it was warm.  Well, she's finally here.

My herbs are finally starting to grow and expand.  I need Mr. Basil to really hurry up because I could chop all of that down right now to make bruschetta.  But I will refrain.  In my extra big blue plantern I only plant basil.  I love it soooooo much I need a pot all to myself.  In the smaller green plantern I planted Italian Parsley, Oregano and Rosemary.  I have been successful on all of them so hopefully this year will be no exception.

If we have a free night we take dog-dog for a ride in the car.  Our pool just opened so we cruised around it and Romeo was very interested in all of the noise.

So what have you been doing to get ready for summer?  What do you have growing in your planterns?  I'll give you an update on our garden once it starts growing.  I have high hopes for it again this year.  One of these years we just may get a bounty of produce.  I really need those tomatoes for my basil.  Yummmmm!
